From a small family run company that opened in 1945, we’re now producing 22 million products a year. We employ over 100 local people at our 178,000 sq. foot factory in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Here we use only the best equipment which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to make sure we never let our customer down.
Stewart is born! Founded by Charles Dugan-Chapman, a former Spitfire pilot. Early products include everyday containers and decorative beading immediately snapped up by Woolworths.
Now well-respected for its custom moulding technology, Stewart becomes a large supplier to the cosmetic, medical and housewares industries. In 1954, having outgrown its factory, Stewart moves to Croydon.
The first Stewart Garden products range is launched. The company continues to invest in the houseware and customised ranges. In 1963 Stewart Plastics Ltd is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
A major supplier to the houseware and DIY retail sector, Stewart also increased its distribution of branded products to the UK garden market.
The Company continues to grow after becoming acquired by Bunzl plc. The acquisition allows for Stewart garden, housewares and catering products to be sold into wider markets.
The new Sealfresh range was launched in 1994, delivering a breakthrough in food storage containers. This was followed by the launch of the hugely successful Gastronorm professional food storage range in 1995.
Stewart, now established as a leading brand in the UK garden and professional catering markets, supplying product lines to many retailers both in the UK and abroad.
In 2012, the company moved to a new HQ in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Further investment in new technology has enabled us to continue the development of the Stewart brand by launching more high quality, innovative products.
